The app also allows you to view your trip history, live track your vehicle if someone else is driving it, and set geofences that alert you to when your vehicle goes “out of bounds”.

5. What should I do first if my vehicle is stolen?

The first thing you should do if your vehicle is stolen is contact your vehicle tracking service. Then you should contact your insurance company, and only then report the theft to the police (even if your vehicle is successfully recovered).

6. How do I get roadside assistance via WhatsApp or Cartrack's app?

Roadside assistance like jump-starting your vehicle, changing a tyre, locksmithing, refuelling, or minor roadside repairs are all part of Cartrack's Protector service. If you have this service, simply tap on Protector and follow the prompts to receive a call where you’ll then get the necessary roadside assistance.

7. Can a signal jammer stop Cartrack from finding my car?

While a signal jammer may stop a stolen vehicle recovery team from finding your car, Cartrack has two effective safeguards in place to prevent jamming. We have jamming detection that alerts us to jamming attempts, and we have the Cartrack Tag that acts as a tracking device backup when your primary tracking device has been compromised.

8. What is CarWatch, and how is it different from Cartrack's normal tracking and recovery?

CarWatch is an alert system on your mobile app that lets you and us know when your car moves without your authorisation. It works by only allowing the car to be switched on when your phone (with the app) is nearby. If your car moves without your phone in the immediate vicinity, we’ll be alerted and can start the recovery process.

9. What happens if I sell my car before the contract ends?

If you sell your car before your Cartrack contract ends, you can either transfer the contract to the new owner (if they consent) or transfer your contract to your new vehicle. In both cases, Cartrack will need to be notified of the change, so be sure to contact us so we can walk you through either process.

10. What is Cartrack Tag?

Cartrack Tag (Track & Go) is a backup tracking device for vehicles that will continue working on an RAF signal when your primary tracking device has been jammed. This gives us a good chance of finding your vehicle despite jamming attempts. The Cartrack Tag can also be used to track other things like construction machinery, farming equipment, and other valuable assets.

11. How much is Cartrack per month?

For consumers, Cartrack’s services start at only R99 per month, and extra app services are charged as additions. For fleets, Cartrack’s fees will depend on the size of your fleet and the types of services you want.

12. How often should I test my unit?

At Cartrack, we recommend that you test your unit every 3 months. This is easy to do: simply call our customer service department and we’ll do the test for you remotely.
